Civ IV... hands down. It's the better game in almost every measureable category. The only real question is, do you prefer real-time or turn-based? If you don't like turn-based, then you won't like Civ IV no matter how good of a game it is. And I have to say... the AoE series has never been able to hold my interest more than 5 seconds.

Then I would say it's not even a real choice. Civ IV is the best there is in its genre. It's fun, replayable, and gorgeous. AoE III on the other hand is a simply decent RTS. There are better ones out there.

I am a big Civilization fan. However, you better becareful because allot of people are having problems with CIV4. Even people with high end rigs are having all sorts of loading, graphics, etc problems. My system seems to work ok...except on multi-player....mine freezes up and I have more then the minimum requirments.

Go to civfanatics.com and read the tech section for CIV4.

Civ IV would win hands down cept for how poorly programmed it is. Believe me when you get it your taking a decent risk of it crashing A LOT.

Have always been a Civ fan, but after reading so many complaints about IV I'm reluctant to buy it.
